Sep 27: Sightseeing tour of Ypres Region

Head back into Belgium and visit cemeteries, trenches, and memorials located outside of Ypres.  • Take a guided tour of the Canadian Hill 62 Memorial at Sanctuary Wood  • Stop to visit both the Dickebusch New Military Cemetery and the Kemmel No.1 French Cemetery  • See the Bayernwald German Trenches, which date back to 1916  • Visit Spanbroekmolen to see the Pool of Peace war memorial and learn about the Christmas Truce of 1914  • Stop at the Island of Ireland Peace Park, located in the city of Mesen  • Travel to Waregem to see the Flanders Field American Cemetery and Memorial

Sep 28: Lille, Vimy Region & Doullens

Spend the day visiting memorials and museums that honor soldiers who fought during WWI.  • See the Lille War Memorial  • Enter the Vimy Interpretive Centre to see some of the medals and memorabilia from the battle  • Visit the Vimy Ridge Memorial, a national historic site of Canada, and explore the nearby tunnels and trenches  • Head to Doullens and learn about the town’s connection with tank warfare  Tonight, explore the best of Lille’s culinary scene.  • Walk through the Grand Place, the city’s main square, to view the ornate Vieille Bourse stock exchange building  • Stop at an estaminet, or small restaurant, near the neoclassical opera house to try a typical appetizer with beer  • Make your way past the grand Lille Cathedral to a modern brasserie where you’ll enjoy a delicious three-course meal  • End your evening with dessert in a cave bar, paired with the best beer in the city

Travel to a variety of sites that played an important role in the success of the Battle of St. Quentin Canal.  • Visit the Somme American Cemetery and Memorial  • See the bunkers of the Hindenburg Line, a German defensive position that played an important role during the Battle of St. Quentin Canal  • Stop in Bellicourt to visit the Bellicourt American Monument, which honors the American soldiers who fought alongside British and French troops  • Travel to Joncourt to see where the Allied forces broke through the German line  • Head to Bellenglise to see the Riqueval Bridge and the monument that honors the 4th Australian Division

Sep 30: Sightseeing tour of Paris & jazz performance

Travel to Paris and enjoy a free afternoon or add an excursion.  Tonight, head to a local jazz club and enjoy a live musical performance.

Oct 01: Musée de l’Armée

Take a guided tour to learn about the architecture, scenery, and history of the City of Light’s many neighborhoods, called arrondissements.  • Drive down the sycamore-lined Champs-Élysées to view the famed Arc de Triomphe monument  • Pass Pont Neuf and the legendary Notre-Dame Cathedral, located on an island in the Seine River  • See the Eiffel Tower, the Palais Garnier opera house, and Place de la Concorde, the city’s grandest square  • Marvel at the iconic architecture of the Louvre and Hôtel des Invalides  This afternoon, step inside the Musée de l’Armée and enjoy free time to explore the exhibits, which commemorate both World Wars. Then, pay a visit to the Charles de Gaulle Monument and learn about the famous French figure with an audio guide.  Tonight, celebrate your trip with your group members during a farewell dinner.
