Experience historic churches, winding canals, and picture-perfect piazzas on a guided tour of the city known as “the Queen of the Adriatic.” • Step into the iconic St. Mark’s Square and enter St. Mark’s Basilica • View the stately Doge’s Palace, built in the Venetian Gothic style in 1340 • Marvel at the Bridge of Sighs, the link between Doge’s Palace and the New Prison • See a glassblowing demonstration to learn about the city’s most celebrated art • Take a gondola ride through the city’s beautiful canals Please note: The gondola ride is weather-dependent.

Florence / 2 NIGHTS

Sep 20: Transfer to Florence & sightseeing tour

Cross through the Apennine Mountains as you make your way to Florence. Once you arrive, get to know the city with a local guide. • View the legendary Florence Cathedral, known as the Duomo • Pass Giotto’s Campanile, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture • Walk past Piazza della Repubblica to the medieval Ponte Vecchio • Stroll along the Arno River and through the courtyard of the Uffizi Gallery to Piazza della Signoria, center of Florentine life • Step inside the Galleria dell’Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David

Sep 21: San Gimignano

Travel through the beautiful Tuscan countryside to discover the essence of the region during today’s activities. • Visit the medieval village of San Gimignano and learn about the interesting history of the area • Head to a local winery for a taste of the region’s wines and a sample of olive oil and balsamic vinegar • Sit down to enjoy lasagna during lunch

Rome / 3 NIGHTS

Sep 22: Transfer to Rome & sightseeing tour

Depart Florence for Rome, where you’ll explore the ancient city on a guided tour. • Pass by Trajan’s Column and Piazza Venezia, the city’s central hub • Stop at the ruins of the Forum, once the setting of parades, elections, and trials • Soak up over 2,000 years of history in Imperial Rome, viewing the Arch of Constantine, the Arch of Titus, and the Temple of Venus and Roma • Enter the Colosseum, the largest amphitheater of the Roman Empire, and take time to explore on your own

Sep 24: Vatican City

Today’s guided tour takes you inside the world’s smallest state, Vatican City.  • Visit the Vatican Museums, which are over 500 years old and hold many of the world’s most important Classical- and Renaissance-era sculptures  • Step inside the Sistine Chapel, where you’ll gaze up at what is perhaps Michelangelo’s greatest masterpiece  • Pay a visit to the enormous St. Peter’s Basilica, the epicenter of the Roman Catholic faith  Please note: Backpacks are not allowed in the Vatican and a dress code of no shorts or sleeveless shirts is enforced.  This evening, enjoy an elegant, four-course dinner at a local restaurant. While you dine, you’ll be treated to some of opera’s best-loved arias.

Sorrento / 3 NIGHTS

Sep 25: Sorrento via Pompeii

En route to Sorrento, stop at Pompeii for a guided walking tour of the city’s ruins. • Learn how wealthy Romans lived as you explore the ruins • View the excavated Roman ruins of theaters, villas, temples, and baths

Sep 26: Capri

Explore the picturesque island of Capri on today’s guided tour. • Take a boat ride around the island • Spend free time exploring the area at your leisure Please note: Today’s activities are weather-dependent. In the case of inclement weather a visit to Anacapri will replace the boat ride around the island.

Sep 27: The Amalfi Coast

Enjoy a full-day excursion to the scenic Amalfi Coast, which offers magnificent views of the sea. • Drive along the coast, stopping at Amalfi Cathedral and at the Madonina viewpoint in Positano • Enjoy free time for lunch and shopping in Amalfi • Continue along the coast to Vietri sul Mare before returning to Sorrento Celebrate your trip at a farewell diner this evening.
