May 04: The High Line & Chelsea galleries

Travel from Boston to New York City. Start off the weekend by heading to the nearby High Line and walking along the beautifully converted railroad. This raised pedestrian walking trail spans almost one-and-a-half miles within the trendy Chelsea neighborhood.  • Admire the beautiful greenery, wooden benches, and lookout points that add a natural, earthy touch to the park’s industrial architecture  • Stroll along the pathway as you snap photos of the ever-changing street art and soak in views of the Hudson River  Then, see more of Chelsea as you visit some of the most exciting galleries and artsy buildings throughout the area.  • Step inside some of the most buzzed-about galleries in the neighborhood  • Spend free time exploring the eclectic Chelsea Market  Tonight, gather with your fellow group members for a tapas-style welcome dinner.

May 05: Storm King Art Center

Venture out of the city to visit the Storm King Art Center in the scenic lower Hudson Valley. Home to renowned large-scale modern and contemporary sculptures, this open-air museum spans 500 acres and was founded by Ralph E. Ogden in 1960. Along the masterfully landscaped rolling hills, you’ll see groundbreaking sculptures on display from some of today’s most critically acclaimed artists.  • Join one of the museum’s specially trained docents for a guided tour of the grounds and hear their expert insight into the expansive collection of contemporary works  • Savor some free time to walk through the grounds on your own  Tonight, return to the Big Apple to enjoy an evening at your leisure.

May 06: Farewell brunch & Whitney Museum of American Art

Celebrate the weekend with your fellow art lovers at a farewell brunch this morning. Then, visit the famous Whitney Museum of American Art. Founded in 1931 by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, the museum features an impressive collection of 20th- and 21st-century work from American artists.  • View some of the 21,000 pieces housed in the brand-new building, which opened in 2016 and was designed by Renzo Piano  • Follow a guide on a behind-the-scenes tour to learn about some of the museum’s most well-known exhibits and enjoy exclusive access to interesting spaces that are normally closed to the public  • Take time to explore the galleries at your leisure  After, travel back to Boston.
